A joint specialist team discussion
Following your consultations, your Menopause Specialist and Consultant Psychiatrist will discuss your case together.
This team discussion allows the two specialists to bring together their clinical perspectives and consider the relationship between menopause, mental health and other relevant factors.
We will then develop a joint diagnostic formulation and a personalised management plan.
Rather than receiving two separate opinions and being left to work out what they mean together, our aim is to provide you with a coherent clinical picture and clear recommendations for what to do next.
What will you receive?
Following the assessment and team discussion, you will receive a joint clinic letter summarising:
- The key findings from your assessment
- Our diagnostic formulation
- Consideration of the relationship between menopause and mental health
- Relevant treatment considerations
- A personalised management plan
- Recommendations for your GP and ongoing care
With your consent, the clinic letter can be shared with your GP to support continuity of care and help ensure that everyone involved in your care has a clear understanding of the assessment and recommendations.
Who might benefit from this service?
This assessment may be particularly helpful if you:
- Feel that your menopause and mental health symptoms are connected.
- Are unsure whether your symptoms are related to menopause, mental health, or both.
- Are experiencing anxiety, low mood, mood changes, sleep difficulties, brain fog or difficulties with concentration.
- Have a previous history of mental health difficulties and are experiencing a change or worsening of symptoms around perimenopause or menopause.
- Feel that your physical and mental health have been considered separately rather than together.
- Have found yourself moving between different healthcare professionals without a clear overall explanation.
- Have received different opinions or treatment approaches and would value a more joined-up assessment.
